Dakṣiṇāmūrti stotram – Śiva as teacher
An incarnation of Lord Śiva, Dakṣiṇāmūrti is considered the divine and ultimate Guru. Śiva as Dakṣiṇāmurti is presented as the source of all knowledge. The vigraha (form) is visualised to create the right “mood” in the devotee. These visualisation verses are so descriptive that sculptors use them to create the vigraha. This course provides all the resources to learn this stotram in a non-singing way, honouring the chandas of the verses and maintaining the integrity of the Sanskrit language (which singing can potentially skew).
Course objectives
At the end of this course, you will:
- Learn to chant the Dakṣiṇāmurti stotram along with the Dhyāna śloka-s.
- Practice small excerpts of the chanting live with the teacher (only those joining the Zoom live classes) – otherwise students will have access to view this live practice in the course.
- Understand the symbolic significance of this stotram.
- Learn to do japa with the Dakṣiṇāmurti mūla mantra.
